The Baccy Tin Muffer Boost
My second build - Jack Orman'e Muffer
This one has interested me for a while, The Muffer (by Jack Orman). Its the boost section of the Electro Harmonix Big Muff. Looked fairly simple and it was ! Great stuff.
Again, had to wait for parts so in the meen-time I culd do more research. Caps, resistors, diodes etc etc, theres a lot to find out and learn. Most of all, I really enjoy making these little pedals of power.
Not really a great deal to say about the build other than it was pretty easy apart from adding a 3DPT switch was (for what ever reason) not used. After a bit of logical thinking, I got it and lo-and-behold, it worked first time. Still got to add a chicken head knob and thats it finished.
One other thing. I didn't have an enclosure for it so after some thought I decided to slap it in an old tobacco tin. Its a bit bit scrappy but it probably won't be in there for long. Anyway, I gave it a few sprays of white paint ('cos its all I had), added a little decal (first time i've done that as well) and....sorted. I probably won't use the tin for long as i've just ordered a couple 1590 Hammond enclosures so I might stick the board etc in one of those.
